Conversion runs in your browser using marked v15.0.7 (MIT, vendored with the page). No network calls are made when you type. The live preview strips scripts, embedded frames, resource attributes, and inline handlers before rendering; ordinary links remain clickable, so don't click links you don't trust.

About this tool

Markdown to HTML converts CommonMark-flavoured Markdown into clean HTML in your browser. The conversion follows the CommonMark 0.30 spec with GitHub-flavoured extensions for tables, task lists, strikethrough, and fenced code blocks with language hints. The output is HTML5 with no inline styles, no classes unless you opt in, and no JavaScript. You can preview the rendered HTML in the right pane and copy either the HTML source or the rendered preview to the clipboard. The converter is bundled into the page; there is no remote fetch on first load.

  • You need to edit Markdown live with a preview — use a real editor like VS Code or Obsidian
  • You need full GFM including mentions, alerts, and the new ::warning:: syntax — this is CommonMark + tables/task lists/strikethrough/fenced code only
  • You need sanitisation for untrusted input — pair this with a sanitiser (DOMPurify) if you intend to render the result in another user's browser

Frequently asked questions

Does it sanitise the HTML?

No. The output preserves raw HTML in the Markdown and script tags will pass through. If you are converting user input for rendering on a public page, run the output through a sanitiser such as DOMPurify before inserting it into the DOM.

Which Markdown dialect is supported?

CommonMark 0.30, plus GitHub-flavoured tables, task lists, strikethrough (~~text~~), and fenced code blocks with a language hint. It does not support footnotes, definition lists, or the newer ::alert:: syntax.
